Vanessa J.

Chief of Staff

Vanessa brings fifteen years of experience in nonprofit leadership and organizational development. She began her career with Achievement First Public Charter Schools in New York where she managed special projects in new school development, fundraising, advocacy, marketing and board relations during a period of hyper-growth for the network. Vanessa went on design, found and lead a small independent charter high school in East Los Angeles where she served as executive director for seven years. One hundred percent of the school’s graduates have earned admission to four-year colleges and universities.

Vanessa’s key strengths and passions include organizational design, planning for change and scale, talent management systems development, project management, internal communications and data systems, leadership coaching, strategic planning, financial modeling, and advocacy work. She holds a B.A. from Princeton University and an M.B.A from New York University where she was a Catherine B. Reynolds Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship. She was a Fulbright Fellow in the Russian Federation.
