Lauren S.

Chief of Staff

Lauren joins vChief with more than 20 years of communications, strategy and project management experience in a variety of sectors, including journalism, affordable housing and education. Lauren began her career as a journalist, covering community redevelopment in Richmond, VA and the U.S. Senate at The Hill in Washington, DC. After nearly a decade in journalism, Lauren made the move to public policy working as a project manager for The Michaels Development Company in Chicago. She then transitioned to the education sector, project managing college completion work for a new cradle to career collective impact initiative called Thrive Chicago.

Most recently, she served as a Managing Director and Interim Chief of Staff for Teach For America Bay Area. In that role, Lauren facilitated and led the staff manager cohort, supported with goal setting and monitoring progress-to-goal for the region’s leadership team, led the performance development process and project managed external partnerships that moved the region’s vision forward. She has also served as a talent and strategy consultant at Education Pioneers.

Lauren holds a BA in English from the University of Virginia, a Master’s degree in Journalism and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.
