Anna K.
Chief of Staff
Anna has more than 10 years of experience working in the education and nonprofit sectors. She is a strong proponent of supporting programs that work towards providing students with non-traditional pathways to success. Anna received her BA in communications from the University of Washington in 2011 and joined Teach for America shortly after to teach middle school students in Colorado Springs, while obtaining an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado.
After 3 years in the classroom, Anna realized what she enjoyed most about her time was the direct engagement with students and their families and moved into a community organizer role at STRIVE Preparatory Schools. Over time, Anna led the family engagement and student recruitment programs for the network across the city of Denver, leveraging change management strategies to meet the needs of 11 unique schools.
Anna’s held a variety of roles since her time at STRIVE Prep, including a partnerships and student recruitment position with an accredited tech bootcamp and family engagement consulting and contract roles for charter schools and tech companies. Currently, she is the Director of Organizing and Advocacy at an education nonprofit that works towards electing candidates to office across the United States with education as the candidate’s primary platform. More than anything, Anna enjoys creating clear systems and processes for organizations, helping them build, fix and become more efficient.
When she’s not working towards advancing educational equity, she’s likely at a concert, exploring the great Colorado outdoors or showing someone photos of her black lab, Charles.
